The Victorian Mansion Inn is an elegant and stately mansion,
exquisitely decorated, which rests majestically on a meticulously
manicured property in the heart of Coldwater. It offers luxuriously
appointed rooms, fresh brewed gourmet coffee, and a full gourmet
breakfast for the guests. The inn has a full-service restaurant.
There are three dining rooms with fourteen foot tall functioning
pocket doors that can be used to insure private parties remain
such. It is the perfect place for special events. Weddings,
receptions, and parties are graciously hosted inside the mansion
and on the estate grounds.
The Victorian Italianate style home was built in 1870 by A.T.
Lanphere. The iron frame went up immediately, but soon consumed
the financial resources of Mr. Lanphere. He traded “residences” with
Jacob Pratt, who spent the next four years bricking in the
home. The home now boasts 14 inch brick walls inside and out
and 24 inches separate the floors from each other. The Pratts
remained in the home until 1936 when they sold it to the Morency’s.
They stayed for the next 30 years.
Marie and Dan Fry have recently settled into the beautiful
home and are opening it to the public as a bed and breakfast
and gourmet restaurant. Marie and Dan met while working at
Tokheim Corporation, when they worked on a technical help desk
troubleshooting gasoline dispensers and the computers that
controlled them. Since then, they have both been Customer Service
managers for different companies. Their career paths changed
slightly before they became the new innkeepers. Marie was an
Operations Manager for a trucking company and Dan a Sales Manager
for a technology consulting company. However, they have always
enjoyed working together.
